1974 Yamaha GC-5M Handmade Classical Guitar w/ OHSC – Center Seam Repair – Made in Japan
Up for sale is a 1974 Yamaha GC-5M handmade classical guitar, built in Japan by Nippon Gakki. The GC series represents Yamaha’s higher-end, hand-crafted classical instruments from the era, and the GC-5M delivers strong projection, clarity, and a mature, balanced tone typical of 1970s Yamaha concert models.
This example shows honest player wear and remains structurally solid and fully functional.
Condition Notes (Please Read Carefully)
A center seam crack developed along the top, running:
Beneath the bridge
Between the soundhole and bridge
The crack was taped and repaired using thick CA glue for a stable, players-grade repair.
The repair is solid and stable, but it is visible and may not be considered a traditional luthier cleated repair.
Structurally secure and holding tension properly.
General cosmetic wear consistent with age.
Clear pickguard installed.
Includes original hard shell case (shows wear but functional).
This is an excellent opportunity to own a vintage Yamaha GC-series handmade classical at a more accessible price due to the top repair.
Tone is warm and articulate with excellent note separation — very suitable for a serious student, performer on a budget, or as a dependable vintage player.
