Vintage Jumbo 12-String Japan Acoustic
Up for sale is a vintage Japanese-made Jumbo 12-string acoustic, built during the golden era of Japanese guitar production. Jumbo guitars are well regarded for their build quality and for taking clear inspiration from classic Martin designs, and this one is no exception.
This is a full-size dreadnought 12-string with a spruce top that has aged into a warm, honeyed amber. The back and sides appear to be rosewood (likely laminated, as was typical for the era), and the guitar has a great, honest vintage look without being overdone or flashy.
The slotted headstock, open-gear tuners, and script Jumbo logo are all period-correct and give the guitar a very traditional 12-string feel. Internally, the guitar is stamped “Manufactured by Jumbo Musical…”, which confirms its Japanese origin and authenticity.
Tone-wise, this guitar delivers what you want from a vintage 12-string: big, shimmering chords with strong fundamentals, plenty of chime, and a full, balanced sound that works equally well for strumming or fingerstyle. It’s lively without being brittle and has more depth than many lower-end 12-strings from the same era.
Just cleaned, restrung and ready to play with comfortable action!
The gig bag is good for shipping transit but is on the small side so the case doesn’t totally fit the guitar.
