Made in Japan Yamaha BBX bass in a black gloss finish with gold hardware. This is a higher-end BBX model from Yamaha’s MIJ production—known for excellent build quality, consistency, and a solid, dependable feel.
This bass has just been cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up here in the shop. It’s playing great with comfortable action and a smooth feel up and down the neck. Everything checks out and it’s ready to go.
The pickup configuration offers a wide tonal range—from tight, punchy lows to warmer, more rounded tones—making it a versatile instrument whether you’re playing rock, jazz, or session-style work.
Condition is very good overall. The finish presents well with a nice gloss, and the gold hardware gives it a sharp look. There are some light surface scratches and minor signs of use (see photos for detail), along with light wear/tarnish on the hardware consistent with age. Nothing structural.
Frets show little to no wear and have plenty of life left.
Electronics are fully functional and sound as they should.
These MIJ Yamaha basses have been gaining more attention lately, and clean examples like this don’t come up as often—especially in this condition. A great option if you’re looking for a well-built Japanese bass that holds its own against much higher-priced instruments.
