Yamaha FG-251B MIJ Dreadnought – Solid Spruce Top / Rosewood – Player Grade

$549.00

The Yamaha FG-251B is a well-respected model from Yamaha’s late-1970s Japanese production era, offering a noticeable step up from entry-level FG models in both materials and tone.

This guitar features a solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides, producing strong projection, a warm low end, and clear, articulate highs. Like many vintage Yamahas, it has developed a mature, open voice over decades of natural aging.

This example is best described as player-grade and would make an excellent choice for someone seeking vintage Japanese tone over collector-level cosmetics.

🔧 Condition Notes (Important – Please Read)

  • Action is on the high side, particularly up the neck. It is playable as-is but may benefit from future adjustment depending on player preference.

  • The back-to-side seam near the neck heel was previously glued and clamped. The repair is stable, but the wood is not perfectly flush, and the cosmetic irregularity is visible (see photos).

  • Light cosmetic wear throughout, including surface marks consistent with age.

  • No cracks observed in the top or sides.

  • Neck is straight and the guitar holds tune properly.

The guitar has been inspected and is structurally sound, but it is not a collector-grade example.
