Yamaha FG-260 12-String – Made in Japan – Original Case – Vintage 1970s
Up for sale is a vintage Yamaha FG-260 12-string, made in Japan by Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd. in the 1970s. These early MIJ Yamaha 12-strings are known for their strong projection, rich shimmer, and classic oversized dreadnought presence.
This example has that warm, aged top color that only comes with time, paired with a darker mahogany back and sides. It has a great vintage look and vibe throughout.
Specs & Features:
Model: FG-260
12-String Dreadnought
Made in Japan (Nippon Gakki)
Spruce top
Mahogany back & sides
Rosewood fingerboard
Original Yamaha label intact
Includes original hard case
Condition
This guitar shows honest vintage wear throughout:
Cosmetic dings, scratches, and small marks consistent with age
Finish wear and surface scuffs
Bridge is solid, however there is a very slight gap visible between the back edge of the bridge and the top. It is minor and stable, but worth noting for full transparency.
Structurally solid overall
Neck appears straight in photos
The bridge remains firmly attached, but the small gap should be disclosed for buyers who are particular about vintage structural details.
The original hard case is included and shows normal wear for its age.
Overall
This is a classic Japanese-made Yamaha 12-string with strong vintage appeal. These FG-260s are known for their big, chimey sound and are becoming harder to find in clean, complete condition—especially with the original case.
A great player-grade vintage 12-string with character.
