Yamaha SFX-1 Super Fighter MIJ Electric Guitar Black w/ Gold Hardware & Tremolo
Up for sale is a killer Yamaha SFX-1 “Super Fighter” made in Japan—an 80s shred-era machine with serious attitude and build quality to match. These are getting harder to find, especially in this clean black and gold configuration.
This one has just been cleaned, restrung, and set up, and it’s playing great. The neck feels fast and comfortable, and the guitar delivers everything you’d expect from a high-end Yamaha of this era—tight low end, clear articulation, and plenty of output from the dual humbuckers.
Features include a double-cut body with cream binding, ebony/dark rosewood board with unique inlays, and a locking trem system with fine tuners. Electronics appear original and function as they should, with multiple switching options for tonal versatility.
Cosmetically, it’s in solid shape for its age. There is noticeable wear to the gold hardware (especially around the pickup rings and bridge), along with some light surface scratches and handling marks throughout. Nothing out of the ordinary for a vintage player’s guitar, and it still presents very well overall.
Comes with the original Yamaha soft case shown.
A super cool and somewhat under-the-radar MIJ piece that holds its own against anything from the era.
